A frothy mixture of.....

I have made no secret of my disdain for the Duggars for reasons I have spelled out before.I have a problem with them and their carefree fuckfest filled hedonistic ways.I take issue with the fact that they think shitting out 19 kids is adorable and deserves a TV show.I also take issue with the fact that namely we exist on the same planet. These last few months though shit has reached a frothy head of lube and excrement proportions.

Michelle gets knocked up again,# 20.I am amazed her uterus can hold up her legs any longer but to actually hold another zygote altogether is impressive.Nonetheless it was not meant to be.

I make no jokes about anyone losing a child, for its not that funny. You know what else isn't funny is taking pictures of said lost child and parading it all over the world.Showing Bin Laden's corpse would have been in better taste.

You are conservative Christians but how humble have you been? The unholy brood living in Arkansas on some kind of suburban commune where the family is together forever and ever.I can only guess inbreeding is not too far down the generational ladder.I mean if you have to actually make an appointment to see your parents I can only guess you will have to find out its not a good idea to sleep with your sister when the child is born with flippers and a third eye, rather than from the parents who are supposed to nurture and raise you.And its not like the bible ever preached against incest. The only ones really nurturing you is Walmart and TLC.

How many black people have you seen outside of tales of Egyptians enslaving the Israelites and maybe on the camera crew? And gays? EECK,perish the thought.

But the cherry on top of the vanilla,oh so vanilla, sunday is you are now stumping for Rick Santorum. That guy,he ain't my kinda guy.

A racist, homophobic, hateful piece of shit former senator who became a Google search punchline for spouting the kinda rhetoric Pat Robertson is going to hell for.A man destined to finish third in the primary because lets face it, well shit I don't know what GOP voters really want in a candidate and I don't think they do either.

But the combination of both makes my skin crawl.

Anyways that's all the disdain I can direct towards you today. Here's hoping Michelle gets preggers with another blessing soon!

Pizza is a vegetable and other fun Christmas stuff

The food schools serve students is yet another symptom of our broken food system. When a handful of large companies control the way food is engineered, grown, processed shipped and sold why wouldn't it make sense for a handful of companies to supply the schools? We all need to eat and the corporations are designed for nothing else but pursuit of profits.Cheap and processed is what Americans crave from the cradle to the grave because that is all they know.Lower income kids don't know a turnip from a stalk of fucking asparagus because cheap calories is all their parents could buy at the 7/11 because there is not a grocery store in sight for miles.

And middle class kids whose parents have the access to fresh foods are seeing the effects as well. The only thing fast food is fast for is an early death after a shorter unhealthy life. With the specter of a hurried life, paying bills and working too hard for increasingly smaller wages I can totally see why the quick comfort of fast food is the answer for many who need to feed their families

I recall eating fries and nacho cheese 4 times a week in high school and also weighing upwards of 200 pounds.I am what I eat and sadly it took me this long to realize it,and I cook for a living mind you.Now that our country is finally reaping what it has sown for 40 years in the form of sky rocketing obesity rates,a plague of diabetic diagnoses for the young and old alike and the number one reigning champ heart disease, I hope America is finally getting the message too.

The single most important thing that is in dire need of reform is our food system, and that is the thing being most patently ignored. Its just as much of an issue as climate change(which in so many ways is directly related to it) and also just as patently ignored by our government and political leaders.

The status quo is failing, and it will crash in our lifetimes. Unsustainable is our country's motto and the one that needs to change.

For a chicken nugget is a unholy thing and needs to not be on your kid's plate. That dubious piece of random white meat has had more shit injected into it than Barry Bonds ass.

Now before you go and say 'But Johanan you don't have kids! Its what they want to eat!' I'll tell you this,I was once a kid believe or not.I know what they want to eat because I ate it for 27 years myself and I will one day pay for it.Hopefully not for a long time but nonetheless we all reap what we sow, and will have to eat it.

But its not too late to change what we planted

Good night and Merry Christmas

I'm the goddamn DEVIL!

What a joke we have become.Credit downgraded to my level, the goodwill in the world created by the election of Barack Obama has pretty much like ended like your last relationship. You found out Brawny paper towels were not the harmless Al Borland metaphor that connected to you're youth before you discovered Seinfeld was a way better show than Home Improvement. Her favorite movie was Twilight and she really liked Hacienda as a legitimate place to eat and not just a drunken make out session post work after 4 margaritas.

The GOP are seriously nothing more than political zombies at this point in our history. The false directions they are looking for to win the next election may be there temporarily but will shock them to know that eventually there are no more brains to eat because there are no more Americans healthy or rich enough to vote for the corporate state. And I am not letting the Dems off the hook either,Stand up for our ideals or you will feel the same ass kicking as you got in 2010!This is our country and our future we were born into and supported because we thought, albeit cynically that the future would always be ours.College grads with no job prospects, the crippling poor who will never graduate high school!Alfonso Soriano is still on the Cubs!

As a mid grade slacker throughout my school days I had always had the postulation that things would in the end turn out okay for me even though I damn well knew better. But it was the Clinton years and the 90's boom when anything was possible.Al Gore won the election and my political future was cemented in a boiling stew not unlike my culinary career.

And like a burned bœuf bourguignon it simmered under the watchful eye of a fucking moron. While I may have imagined my dream of a country of high speed rail connecting all the regions of our country under a green hopeful sky that watched benevolently as we embraced locally grown and natural foods and the recognition of the rights of anyone to marry anyone they wanted to and treated corporations like businesses and not entities entitled to whatever they cared to plundered from who ever they damn well pleased....and you see where I am going?

We are snarkingly referred to as Generation Y if you read Yahoo articles(a chore I don't recommend, cleaning a cat box is more stimulating and less infuriating). We don't give a shit,we are self absorbed and are more concerned with a Facebook post then a law passed like Michigan's Public Act 4.Taking over the government of a city is perfectly fine if you are a Ayn Rand follower(yes I once counted myself along those lines but than again I once was a fan of Ugly Kid Joe) following the rules of unregulated financial logic and we all saw how well that worked in 2007-08.

Look I don't speak anything new or revolutionary and there are a thousand blogs out there saying the same thing in essence I am.

But I live in the rustbelt,I have lived and spent my money in Benton Harbor pretty much all of my life. The economic rot goes back a lot futher than the last decade or so.There is a cancer in our great democracy and i fear for my future for the first time.

September 11 happeneed a few months after I graduatred high school and I am more worried for my future now than ever

Sometimes we fade away..a midwestern progressive's voice

President Obama.......

I personally witnessed the mess of the 2000 elections while a bright bushy tailed senior in high school.I did not register in time to vote which to my shame did not make a difference in the election of Al Gore/George W Bush as I was not then nor am now a 75 old year resident of Miami Dade County in the glorious state that everyone goes to die called Florida. But if I was I probably would have been infected with hanging chads while attempting to vote for Pat Buchanan. In a hilarious side note one of my coworkers years later threw Cesar dressing at Mr. Buchanan as he was speaking at Western Michigan University on Cesar Chavez day.But it was a wake up call I would heed in 2002,well actually it was 2004 as it was a complicated period in my life involving keeping my 77 Cutlass on the road and trying to make rent in my shit hole first apartment which I was later evicted from. GOP conspiracy?

Well probably not but later on I repented the mantra of lassies faire capitalism for the bright new future of trying common sense as it applies to American economics and social engineering.Would Ayn Rand approve? She's dead.

So as a logical progression of things I threw my weight behind John Kerry.Uncharismatic?Out of touch? Not a war hero?He looks like the professor from Reanimator?

War hero yes but everything else is pretty much true.

But in the midst of a dumb ass Connecticut born Texan outsider and a privileged born Massachusetts senator came you.You were running for senate in Illinois, the country's more cherished seat of corruption to rival only Louisiana.Yet you were different, born of a immigrant and a American, worldly learned and facing a opponent that liked to have freaky forced sex in strip clubs(that's for you Ayn Rand!).The DMNC happened with the usual pomp and circumstance and then you gave your first great speech.

Mr President you stole the fucking show! And after a not very contested election(Ohio was never really investigated)Kerry lost.

Then came 2006,the tide was turning for us flaming liberals in the form of my first happy election night, and then the always interesting rumbles of the Presidential candidates started to rise.I was initially a Hillary supporter and who can blame me,I grew up with the Clintons, they were my Camelot, with the blemishes and all making them a leadership for our decade. As Edwards faded and it became a gruesome twosome I jumped into the camp of the skinny kid with the funny name and the big ears and you were my man through and thru.

And you mopped the floor with the tottering old man and the pride of Wasilla,it was great.I got a six pack of Bell's and a pack of Pall Malls and I celebrated through the night.

But it has turned dark Mr. President. While we can point to your accolades of the Affordable health Care act, sorta ending the Iraq war and ending don't ask don't tell there is a noticeable void in what you should have done with a majority in both houses as well as promises you made to a nation that believed in a new chapter in America. While your goals of bipartisanship are admirable there is such poison in America today that no amount of good will can overcome. They don't like you Sir and never will.2010 we lost big and all the GOP were promising was the defeat of you in 2012.Not trying to get us out of the swamp of sorrow, not competing globally again but just to get your ass out of the White House.

They showed the same willingness to protect the sacred rights of rich white America as aways in slightly more brazen terms. Was Reagan this open?

My homeland of Michigan is a joke, the same crippling economic situation as has plagued the Great Lakes state since I have been alive.Gov Snyder has in essence created rules to subjugate democracy at its most basic form in the form of the Emergency Financial Manager.Yes Benton Harbor has had problems for years,in a respect it may even be a little Detroit and there is no easy solution.Yet has Fred Upton offered a change in the 20 years he has represented us?

They say us liberals expect too much from the government but is it too much to ask that you quit smearing shit in our faces as they tell tales of dark chocolate for all?

I don't lay all these problems at you feet Sir but I hold you accountable for what you can and should have done when the circumstances were available.

You are not a disappointment to me, but the slide is becoming more and more transparent as time drags on.But the facts remain and a are becoming apparent that the clear voice you had 3 years ago is becoming a strangling voice as the vision of America dies and the Democrats are to blame.

Global Socialist Left

The temptation to read comments on Yahoo articles is something I cant help.Just when you think the mountain has been scaled along comes another fucking peak.Uninformed American opinions, a prizefighter that won't stay down.Examples follow below.

This article is about the Marshall Islands and the fact that they will be underwater in my life time.I posted the link to Facebook. Now for the mindnumbing.

Example 1:"When their island sinks, they're coming straight for Hawaii. A huge population of them are here already, using up our tax dollars and state funded Medicare. They live with 30 family members to a home and typically aren't very clean in any aspect. Many of the adults are unemployed due to lack of skills and develop drug problems and are homeless. They usually don't bother to learn English or teach their children anything about American culture, creating a strain on our public school systems.
I guess because the US decided to use their islands as a bombing target back in the day, it's our responsibility to take on their problems? It's terribly sad that their island is sinking, but how is that the United States fault? Action needs to be taken, those "voids" in policies need to be filled, because if they aren't they really are all going to come here and suck our public systems dry."

Nicely stated,I like how he managed to take the global issiue and bring it home to where he lives.Especially how he makes it clear that these subhuman island dwellers who are not welcome in Hawaii with the native white people.

Next we have a more learned fellow.

"I have been studying and commenting on the man-made global warming hoax for years now. And it does my heart good to see so many people are waking up and not buying the @#$% that the global socialist left is shoveling. Good, indeed. Way to go, People.

Peace All"

I like how he denounced socialism but dissapointed he didn't mention Obama by name. The Peace All is a classy touch.Global Socialist Left is defently whats wrong with the world leadership picture.

Now for example # 3.

"You're not welcome in the U.S. Drown instead"

Short and sweet and to the point.Showing the rest of the world that your extreme Xenophobia doesn't stop with the brown people on your own continent is ballsy, but then this is a ballsy kinda country.Trying to mention the extreme weather or the fact that 2010 will be one of the warmest years on record would really be pointless.Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Its not applicable to the scientific method. It defies logic.

But ignorance of a certain caliber, that is something no debate will cure.

From the depths of the information superhighway,I bid good day

Summer will never be the same

Ron Santo passed away this morning at the age of 70.He lived without seeing a ring as a player. He left without seeing the Cubs win it all as a broadcaster. He went without being inducted into his rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.He struggled with his diabetes all his life necessitating the removal of both of his legs.He was an outstanding 3rd baseman one of the greats in baseball history.

You can get all these facts from other places, one being the great documentary written and directed by his son Jeff, This Old Cub.

But what you can't get are the intangibles. You can't understand that which comes from a cold sixer and the radio on 720,when dusk refuses to leave the summer sky for what feels like an eternity.

When idle moments were filled with the humor and passion of a man who was like you,a fan first,a broadcaster second.Much to the detriment of some naysayers who criticised Ronnie for being a cheerleader in essence.

Of course those "serious broadcasters" probably grew up in New York watching the Mets. But they didn't get that it wasn't about him doing his research on players while the game was in progress but a passion for the game that many could learn from.

Ron Santo was a legend on and off the field and is irreplaceable for the millions of us that wear the burden of being a Cubs fan.We carry legends in our hearts and that's where #10 will always play.

Goodbye Ronnie and GO CUBS!!

Old Men Winter and the Douche Bridgade

Say what GQ! I hate men's magazines,is there anything more asinine than waiting at the tire shop for your rubber to get rotated and having to read Maxim? 10 moves in bed to get her to melt into goo.Fat blasting ab workouts to destroy the competition of the beer belly.Best cigars to choke down after the boss comes over for dinner to tell you the Riley account has gone to Jensen down the hall.Jensen, who has frosted flakes in his hair and gave the secretary gonorrhea last year.

Having to choke that shit down is the literary equivalent of eating out at a chain restaurant on someone else's dime and you can't say anything cause you don't wanna be rude.Cause rudeness leads to resentment and that is the path to the dark side,or at least it was before George Lucas wrote the dark side into a toilet of unimaginable reckoning.

"Where is Padme?NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

So you chew that processed crap up and grimly swallow it down. The bitter taste of mortality, the bitter taste of winter.Or just the mushy texture of a pork chimichonga.Nothing like meat from a can.

Which brings me to the aura of the bromance. Its nothing new,Jesus and Judas were the first to really bring it to the mainstream.Ok it was a complicated relationship for sure but they had some good ol fashioned bromantic adventures before Judas sold his bro out for some change and a chance at some loving from Mary Magdalene.

'I got a Holy Blood Holy Grail for you baby,I call him little Judas'.

Sherlock and Watson,Batman and Robin,Nixon and Kissinger, and anyone in a Judd Apatow movie. The list stretches back into the history of homoerotic subtexts as far as humanity can remember. There's just something special about that other dude that makes you forsake the companionship of family, friends and lovers and to follow each other like puppies follow their owners.

"Where's ------?"

"Where the fuck do you think?"

As a person who's always been kinda a lone wolf its a little strange to me.I have friends and family and like to spend time with them but I enjoy some solitude once in a awhile, and by that I mean everyday. When you are together more than most couples are,you might have dependency issues. And what is the point gentlemen, when you might as well plan on retiring together because no one else will ever make y'all happy including yourself. It would be funny if it wasn't so bizarre.....Isn't it bromantic?
